Ever wonder how good the Rabun County Band Program *really* is?
From Wednesday March 12 through Friday March 14, Banks County High School hosted the Region 9 East "Large Group Performance Evaluation" aka "District Concert Band Festival." Bands from all over Northeast Georgia performed for three impartial judges who critiqued and rated each band's performance. When the Rabun County High School Symphonic Band left Banks County on Thursday night, fourteen (14) bands had performed and had been scored by the judges. Only two bands had PERFECT performance scores from these judges -- both of them were from Rabun County! - The Rabun County Middle School Concert Band, under the direction of Ann Alford, performed for the judges on Wednesday afternoon.
- The RCMS Concert Band earned an "Excellent" in sight-reading after their performance.
- The Rabun County High School Symphonic Band, under the direction of Myron Medlin, performed Thursday evening.
- The RCHS Symphonic Band earned a "Superior" in sight-reading. Thus, the RCHS Band earned top marks in every category.
- This is the third year in a row the Symphonic Band made straight "1's" at District Concert Festival.
The band program continues to be the most consistently successful student activity in the Rabun County. |
